Regulations Unique to Raccoon Season - 1. Raccoon or opossum may be hunted at night by the aid of a light and dogs, with .22 rimfire firearms other than .22 magnum, or with a single-shot .410 gauge centerfire and muzzleloading shotgun using shot no larger than No. 6. Hunting raccoon or opossum by display or use of a light from a moving vehicle, boat or animal is prohibited2. Taking wildlife at night with a gun equipped with a thermal or night-vision device is prohibited. 3. Public access and vehicles are allowed at anytime during the raccoon season. 4. Vehicles may be operated on all named or numbered roads within the bird dog training area. 5. Hunters are not required to check-in or report harvest during the raccoon season.

Small Game Season

Details & restrictions

Permit: Daily quail permit (if hunting quail), hunting license (an annual license is required for nonresidents to hunt game and furbearers), management area permit, migratory bird permit (if hunting migratory birds), and state waterfowl permit and federal duck stamp (if hunting waterfowl).

1. Quail may be harvested only within the zone designated on the daily quail permit. 2. Hunting with centerfire rifles is prohibited. 3. Hunting in the Field Trial and Boy Scout Camp is restricted to walk-in access only, and can only be hunted on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Hunting quail is prohibited in these areas.4. Hunting in the South Hammock Pond is restricted to walk-in hunters only and can be hunted on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. 5. Daily quail permits will be issued on Wednesdays and Saturdays only from November 28 until the season quota is attained or through January 6.

Migratory Bird Season

Permit: Quota permit (if hunting during any quota period), hunting license (an annual hunting license is required for nonresidents to hunt migratory game birds and non-native game birds), management area permit, migratory bird permit, and state waterfowl permit and federal duck stamp (if hunting waterfowl).

All Migratory Bird Regulations shall apply. 1. Hunting ducks, geese and coot with lead shot is prohibited. 2. Centerfire and muzzleloading shotguns are allowed for hunting during established area seasons when migratory birds are legal to hunt. 3. Shooting hours for mourning and white-winged doves are ½ hour before sunrise until sunset.4. Adults with required licenses and permits may actively participate in Youth Waterfowl Hunting Days, provided they may not harvest wildlife.

Non-Native Reptiles

Allowed year round.

Firearms (as allowed by season) may be used to take non-native reptiles only during open hunting seasons summarized in this brochure. 3. Conditional and Prohibited reptiles shall not be removed from the area alive. 4. Shooting hours are ½ hour before sunrise until ½ hour after sunset. 5. Please report take and sightings of non-native reptiles at 888-IVE-GOT1 (888-483-4861) or online at IveGot1.org.6. Taking non-native reptiles with dogs is prohibited.

Hunting with crossbows, airbows, or bows equipped with a draw-lock device is prohibited (except by Persons With Disabilities Crossbow Permit). 2. Only walk-in hunters are allowed in the North and South Walk-in-Areas: South Hammock Pond, Field Trial Area, and Boy Scout Camp.
Muzzleloading Gun Season: 1. Hunting with archery equipment or guns, other than muzzleloading guns is prohibited, except that centerfire and muzzleloading shotguns are allowed for hunting migratory birds and non-protected birds.2. Only walk-in hunters are allowed in the North and South Walk-in-Areas: South Hammock Pond, Field Trial Area, and Boy Scout Camp.
General Gun Season: 1. Hunting with dogs is prohibited. 2. Only walk-in hunters are allowed in the North and South Walk-in-Areas: South Hammock Pond, Field Trial Area, and Boy Scout Camp.
Field Trial Area Quail Season: 1. A field trial quail quota permit allows the quota permit holder and one additional hunter to hunt provided the daily bag limit of 6 quail is shared by the hunters. 2. Quail may be hunted within the Field Trial area only.
