Introduction

PublicHunts (“PublicHunts,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides tools for discovering and researching public hunting lands, property boundaries, regulations, species information, access information, and related outdoor-planning resources.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and disclose it, and the choices available when you access publichunts.com and related PublicHunts services. By using PublicHunts, you acknowledge the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• name, email address, profile information, and account preferences;
• saved properties, saved searches, alerts, notes, and account activity;
• feedback, property reports, corrections, support requests, and other communications;
• information submitted when contacting us or participating in beta testing.

Authentication information

PublicHunts uses Clerk for authentication and account management. Depending on your sign-in method, this may include email address, name, profile image, authentication identifiers, verification status, session information, and information from an identity provider such as Google. PublicHunts does not receive or store your third-party account password.

Location information

We may process location-related information when you search by city, state, ZIP code, map position, or another location; permit browser or device location; save a home area; or interact with maps, properties, boundaries, or access points. This may include a search location, approximate location, map coordinates, or more precise device location when you grant permission. You control device-location permissions in browser or device settings.

Usage, technical information, and cookies

• IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring and exit pages;
• pages, properties, filters, features used, timestamps, approximate geographic region;
• diagnostic, performance, and error information.

We may use first-party analytics to understand use and improve the service. PublicHunts and service providers may use cookies, local storage, session storage, and similar technologies to keep users signed in, maintain secure sessions, remember preferences, prevent fraud or misuse, and operate and improve the service. We do not currently use personal information for cross-site behavioral advertising.

2. How We Use Information

• display properties, maps, regulations, access information, saved properties, searches, alerts, and preferences;
• personalize search and discovery features; deliver service-related emails and alerts;
• respond to feedback, reports, and support requests; diagnose errors and improve reliability;
• analyze feature usage and performance; protect against fraud, abuse, or security threats;
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

3. How We Disclose Information

Service providers

We may disclose information to vendors that perform services for PublicHunts, including Clerk for authentication and account management, Render for application, database, and infrastructure hosting, Resend for transactional, feedback, and service-related email, identity providers such as Google when you choose third-party sign-in, and mapping, geocoding, analytics, monitoring, or infrastructure providers used to operate the service. These providers may process information only as needed to provide services to us, subject to their agreements and policies.

Legal, safety, business transfers, and consent

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or government request; protect rights, safety, property, or security; investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or Terms violations; or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. Information may be transferred in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, asset sale, or similar transaction, subject to applicable law. We may also disclose information when you direct us to do so or provide consent.

4. Sale and Targeted Advertising

PublicHunts does not currently sell personal information for money, share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use personal information for targeted advertising across unrelated services. If these practices change, we will update this policy and provide choices required by applicable law before implementing the change.

5. Data Retention and Security

We retain personal information as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain your account, fulfill the purposes described here, comply with legal, accounting, or reporting obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and prevent fraud and abuse. Retention varies by information and purpose. When no longer reasonably necessary, information may be deleted, anonymized, or aggregated.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information. No internet transmission, database, or storage system is completely secure. You are responsible for the security of your device, login methods, and account access.

6. Your Choices and Privacy Rights

You may be able to update account information through Clerk; change location permissions; manage saved properties, searches, alerts, and preferences; unsubscribe from optional emails; request access to or deletion of certain information; or delete or request deletion of an account. Necessary transactional, security, and account-related messages may still be sent.

Residents of certain jurisdictions may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of personal information; learn categories collected or disclosed; opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling; and appeal a denied request. Rights vary by jurisdiction and may be subject to exceptions. We do not currently sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. 7. Children, Links, and International Users

PublicHunts is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can investigate. Users below the age of legal majority should use PublicHunts only with a parent or guardian’s involvement and permission.

PublicHunts may link to government agencies, maps, regulations, identity providers, and other third-party services. We do not control their privacy, security, accuracy, or availability; their terms and policies govern their handling of information.

PublicHunts is operated from the United States. International users’ information may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws.

8. Changes and Contact

We may update this Privacy Policy as PublicHunts changes. We will revise the effective date and may provide additional notice when required or when changes are material. Continued use after an update applies the updated policy to subsequent use.
